GRANTS FOR TRADEMARK REGISTRATION GRANTS FOR TRADEMARK REGISTRATION

Are you considering registering a trademark? Now you have the opportunity to draw a lucrative grant for the registration of a national or European Union trademark.

Who is the grant for and under what conditions?

The grant is intended for self-employed persons and small and medium-sized enterprises (maximum 250 employees) and can draw up to 50% of the basic administrative fee for trademark registration.  The grant is not intended for legal services, only for the administrative fee for registration, and will reach a maximum of 1,500 EUR. Each company can receive the grant only once. Given that the administrative fee for filing a European Union trademark starts at 850 EUR, this is a great financial saving for businesses.

What is the chance of obtaining the grant?

In total, the initiative will distribute 20 million EUR in 5 phases. The grant will be awarded to everyone who meets the conditions, until the allocated money is used up. The chances of obtaining a grant are therefore very high.

How can you obtain the grant?

To obtain the grant, you need to fill in the form available here: https://euipo.europa.eu/ohimportal/en/grants-sme-fund#timeline. The application must be accompanied by a certificate of registration for VAT or a certificate of allocation of VAT number, and a certificate of ownership of a bank account.

Application schedule

The application can be submitted in one of the following 5 phases:

– 11 January – 31 January 2021

– 1 March – 31 March 2021

– 1 May – 31 May 2021

– 1 July – 31 July 2021

– 1 September – 30 September 2021

From our point of view, the greatest chance is to obtain a grant when applying at the beginning of one of these periods. First, it is necessary to apply for a grant and afterwards to apply for a trademark.

If you are interested, we will be happy to help you with the application for a grant and with the registration of a trademark for the Czech Republic or the European Union.
